Across Frames is a programme of monthly online talks thinking about the role of moving image practice in contemporary art, cinema and wider image culture organised by Resolution students with Kate Cooper and Elif Özbay. Guest speakers from a range of disciplines will give lectures critically reflecting on moving image practice in relation to their own work and experiences.

Confessions is a zine for and by (but not limited to) the Sandberg/ Rietveld community. The zine will focus on ‘confession-writing’; your (scandalous) auto-fiction, poems, anecdotes or your more theoretical/ artistic enquiries into the confession as artistic or literary form. Confessions is meant to be distributed in a decentralized way: you can’t buy or order it, you can only stumble upon it, find it by accident in the Rietveld and Sandberg buildings, or during an exhibition or graduation show, perhaps.

During these very difficult pandemic times, we at Radio Voorwaarts wanted to do something to help the spaces in Amsterdam we no longer have access to, that were always places of resistance, against gentrification, the status-quo, the perpetual capitalistic demand for economic growth, and the conformization of culture in big cities. We miss spaces like OT301, Vondelbunker, Nieuwe Anita, De Trut, and countless others, and we know you do too. That’s why we also thought that while you’re at home on the couch past curfew with your roommates, family, or friends, bored out of your mind - we could bring back the feeling of community that we had in those places directly to you. At the same time, we want to raise money for these spaces and you are highly encouraged to donate throughout this stream.

“It is a human thing to do to put something you want, because it’s useful, edible, or beautiful, into a bag [...] and then take it home with you, home being another, larger kind of pouch or bag, a container for people.”(1) I am borrowing these words from Ursula K. Le Guin’s feminist essay “The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction,” written in 1986. This alternative version of human history, a counter-narrative in which the first tool is not a knife, but a vessel, centering the collective sustenance of life. For my “Better Together”-Residency at the Glass Pavilion from 24.5.–30.5.2021 I am thinking along this notion of the container: a carrier bag, a container, holding together various seeds, roots, nuts, words, sentences, stories: a thing that holds another thing. I am inviting artists and designers to gather around the glass container and explore how assigning meaning to stuff that is lingering in the background can help us to understand the world around us.

“From the Verge Looking Inwards” consists of a small publication, focused on works by Latin American students and alumni, and a film screening to go along the publication. The second edition of the fanzine will be focused on “Desiring Cartographies” as seen by Latin American artists and filmmakers. We wish for the fanzine publication and screening night to be platforms for Latin American artists and filmmakers in a European context, and to socialise these ideas with the rest of the Sandberg and Rietveld community. We have chosen for the publication to be completely in English, as it will be accessible to non-Spanish speakers.

‘Snowblindness Podcast Series’ is an investigative project that explores different narratives on colonial pasts and myth-making in relation to a contemporary design practice. The podcast series invites selective speakers in to have a discussion on storytelling, including relatives into artist processes and work and much more. Throughout the radio broadcast it will be possible for students from Rietveld & Sandberg to call and ask questions and take part in the conversation. The podcast series is trying to reflect on the methodologies in a design discipline; how to get access to information, how to make material public and finally how to articulate, debate and visualize ’collective memory’.

A two-day workshop on horror, tarot, and prop-making. This two-day workshop is an opportunity to play around and create a personal narrative, fostering alternative, non-linear, speculative forms of story-telling. Jae and Violeta had screening Night of the living dead, a classic zombie film directed by George A. Romero. The screening was an informal, enjoyable moment to get together, accompanied by an introduction to Tarot by Jae. They also had a prop-making workshop, to explore the construction of the spectator's own persona through prop-making.

In the opera- performance <Blue Moon>, Jae and Tao present their journey of research of East Asian opera <Peking opera, Kabuki and Korean music>. Thinking of an alternative form of myth based on different geological and cultural backgrounds. A highly abstract form of narrative concentrated on sound and light. Following the sound of drums and spotlights, Jae and Tao will move with different rhythms, say hello and goodbye to each other.

COVEN is a place for discussion, gossip, community and radical care. What does it mean
to be a woman and want power? How can intersectional feminism help us reflect on the roll of women and other suppressed bodies through history? How can these reflections help us imagine other worlds? And how can the figure of the witch help us re-define our relationship with the natural world and other humans?
For the first edition COVEN will release a publication collecting different voices around these topics and together with the podcast "On Mondays we wear black" it will point out the start of a community of critical and supportive voices.

a bigger context. It's an online lecture/conversation with Victor Mora Gaspar and Carlos Carvento, both
related to Ocaña from an academic and artistic approach.
